But I do

I shouldn't walk into the forest
Where the sky is obsolete
The light eludes the pulses
And breaths of all within

I shouldn't hear the music
The sounds of the forgotten
Melodies that haunt and whisper
Words I can no longer foresee

I shouldn't see the colors
Remnants on the walls inside
Rainbows of a fading vibrance
Yet so awing in their reprise

I shouldn't dream the night
Of a starless moonlight
Where the water mirrors
The gloom of the bemused

I shouldn't stall the flight
With light still in my eyes
A soft touchdown in sight
As I tumble into the skies

I shouldn't let you be a thought
That haunts me in the shadows
Upon the brink of sunrise
Where skies mourn in their disguise
